Alex Onushco-Week Ten "Grid"
For my grid, I used a Chinese food menu. It is something that college students have probably looked at 100 times and it is common in everyday life. I think that it has a good grid structure because it is easy on the eyes and follows a readable pattern. The boxes serve to highlight unique information on the menu and allow for breaks in the pattern so that the image does not appear to dull. The three columns are very appropriate for this particular menu and its contents and allows for easy readability. Overall i think that the grid is sufficient enough to serve the purpose it was intended. If i were to change something, I may have added another box to allow for more breaks in the pattern and to give it a more creative design structure.

Definitely a good example of a grid. Another thing to point out besides the boxes to highlight content, is the fact that the content is "grouped and separated." Items that belong together are grouped tighter together. There is more space between the sections than within them, making for easy readability.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely all type of menus use a grid structure. Menu's are something that I look at all the time and I never thought about how they were organized. Using a grid structure to design a menu is definitely a good idea because of the readability factor. I have seen menu's that do not use a grid structure in hopes of showing creativity, but it ends up just being frustrating to sort through all the information.
