Week Seven - Schwartz
This visual is an articulate example of gestalt principles. It is a good demonstration of silhouette, because it shows the detail and outline of an image in a successful way without giving the detail of the face. The power of the visual can be interpreted through the simple outline.

I agree, this example of positive-negative space is good for showing gestalt. Our eyes make meaning of the colors we see in order to visualize the black silhouette in front of the white background. Our minds create unity and completeness by the graphical elements used to create the picture.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good example of silhouette. It especially reminds me of the silhouettes that we used to make as children with our shadows up against the wall. A silhouette definitely takes less skill to make than an actual picture. This ensures that it's easily-doable and easily-comprehensible to a large population, important traits that are essential to good design.
